Huntertown's lots didn't sell until 1872, after the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad reached the settlement that William T. Hunter had started around 1837 along the Coldwater Road. That railroad-driven growth, followed by a slow build toward the town's 1966 incorporation, shaped a housing stock that has weathered a long stretch of Allen County storms and winters.
